
Jacek Jaśkowiak
Mayor of the City of Poznań since 2014, social activist, sports activist and former entrepreneur.
He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań, completed postgraduate studies in accounting, finance and taxes.
He was a GFPS scholarship holder at the University of Bielefeld in Germany. Mr Jaśkowiak gained his professional experience in the 90s working in trading companies, including Kulczyk Tradex.
As the Mayor of the City of Poznań, he puts a lot of effort into making Poznań the best place to live for its residents. Thanks to his constant committment, some significant changes have taken place since he became mayor. Apart from his engagement in creating thousands of jobs, the City of Poznań has invested in the development of tram infrastructure, as well as in the environmentally friendly rolling stock – both trams and buses. Now Poznań has one of the best public transport systems in Poland and its dynamic development is widely appreciated.
Another focus is the blue-green infrastructure implemented into the urban landscape. Throughout the city, green spaces such as squares, pocket gardens, green roofs and walls are created and the city’s retention capacity is increased. Where possible sections of concrete paving are removed to make space for urban vegetation. This fast-paced development has been appreciated by both the residents and various experts.
Last but not least, Mr Jaśkowiak is widely focused on making Poznań a city where safety comes first.
