BIO

Jakub Marek Karnowski graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics and holds an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from the Carlson School of Management and the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota (USA).

From 1997 to 2000, he was advisor and head of the political office of the Minister of Finance of Poland. Subsequently, he was an advisor and director of the International Department at the National Bank of Poland.

From 2003 to 2008, he was a member of the Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank Group.

He headed the management board of the investment fund PKO TFI S.A. (2008-2012), the Polish state railway PKP Polskie Koleje Państwowe S.A. (2012-2015) and the private investment group Luma Investment S.A. (2016-2019).

He was an independent member of the supervisory board and chairman of the audit and risk committee at HSBC Bank Polska from 2015 to 2019.

Jakub Karnowski also worked as a researcher and academic teacher at the Warsaw School of Economics. He is a scholarship holder of the Margaret Thatcher Foundation. He holds a diploma of a CFA licensed financial advisor. He holds a PhD in economics and was head of the Department of Liberal Economics at the Warsaw School of Economics and supervisor of the student research club on the reconstruction of Ukraine.

He was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of “Ukrposhta” S.A. and an independent member of the Supervisory Board of “Ukrzaliznytsia” S.A..

On 19 July 2024, he was elected by the Supervisory Board of “KredoBank” S.A. to the position of First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board and took up this position on 19 August 2024. He was elected by the Supervisory Board of “KredoBank” S.A. as Chairman of the Management Board on 21 February 2025, based on the approval of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Ukraine obtained on 20 February 2025. He assumed this position on 1 March 2025.
