Dorin Chioțea is a seasoned Romanian journalist with a career spanning nearly three decades, combining extensive experience in print, television, and digital media. A graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at UMF Carol Davila, he began his journalistic journey in 1995 at Libertatea.
In 2024, he was appointed Editor-in-Chief of Libertatea, Romania’s most-read and most-respected news platform, where he leads a dynamic, complex, and highly rewarding daily newsroom operation.
Recognized as one of the country’s most prominent journalists, Dorin has built a rich career in sports and medical journalism, while also covering major social, political, and investigative topics. Energetic and versatile, he has reported from around the world – not only from top-tier sporting events but also from conflict zones and significant social crises.
He spent 13 years in leadership roles within Libertatea, Gazeta Sporturilor, and ProSport under Ringier Romania, and has also contributed to Evenimentul Zilei, Unica, and Capital. Since 2011, Dorin has been active in television as both a manager and an on-air journalist, producing, hosting, and moderating a wide range of programs in popular morning slots as well as prime time.
Throughout his career, he has overseen several major relaunches of high-circulation daily newspapers, strengthened their digital platforms, and spearheaded special editorial infrastructure projects.
Dorin’s return to Libertatea as Editor-in-Chief marks both a homecoming and a new chapter, driven by his belief in delivering energetic, high-impact journalism powered by cutting-edge technology and the creativity of his team.
