Marius Istrate is the Chairman of TechAngels Romania, the country’s largest and most dynamic angel investment network. With over 18 years of industry experience, Marius has built his reputation by leading and scaling teams, most notably as Chief People Officer at UiPath, where he was instrumental in expanding the company’s workforce from 100 to 3,000 and establishing offices globally between 2017 and 2020. He is deeply passionate about mentoring early-stage startups and advocating for a robust entrepreneurial landscape across Central and Eastern Europe.

As Chairman since June 2023, Marius steers TechAngels’ mission to fuel tech innovation by educating and supporting entrepreneurs and fostering bold investment strategies. Under his guidance, TechAngels invests in pre-seed and seed-stage ventures, with an ambitious goal to help create 10 regional unicorns in the coming decade. His direct investment portfolio spans notable startups—including Flowx.ai, SmartDreamers, Colossyan, Pythagora.ai, KodeSage, Creatopy, and several others. Marius is committed to nurturing talent, promoting internationalization, and building bridges within the venture capital community, all while championing policies that encourage angel investments and startup growth.
