Ramona Avramescu is one of Romania’s most experienced political journalists, with more than 25 years of expertise in political and international affairs. She joined TVR News in
2001 after beginning her career at Revista 22, and has covered every major political milestone of the past two decades, from Romania’s accession to NATO and the European Union to presidential and parliamentary elections, constitutional debates, and key political and social reforms.
As TVR’s special correspondent, she has reported from some of the world’s most significant political events, including the 2020 and 2024 U.S. presidential elections and the inaugurations of Presidents Joe Biden and Donald Trump, NATO summits, European Council meetings, the war in Ukraine, and international peace negotiations.
She previously headed TVR News’ domestic politics desk and has hosted several of the broadcaster’s flagship current affairs and political debate programmes. For the past 20 years, she has served as TVR’s senior correspondent accredited to the Presidency of Romania, providing in depth coverage of the country’s highest office.
Throughout her career, she has conducted exclusive interviews with Romanian Presidents Nicușor Dan, Klaus Iohannis, and Traian Băsescu, as well as with international leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In 2025, she moderated Romania’s final
televised presidential debate, bringing together the candidates ahead of the election.
Ramona Avramescu holds a degree in Journalism and Communication Studies from the University of Bucharest. She is an alumna of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences fellowship programme (2005) and the German Marshall Fund of the United States fellowship programme (2008).
