Irineu Darău is Romania’s Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism. A software engineer, entrepreneur, and public policy leader, he brings experience spanning technology, business, and government. Before entering national politics, he built a career in the software industry in Romania and France, specializing in software architecture, product development, team leadership, and technology consulting, and later founded his own software consultancy.

Previously, he served as a Senator in the Romanian Parliament, where he was a member of the committees on public administration, labor and social protection, education, and the joint parliamentary committee on combating human trafficking. His academic background is in computer science, complemented by postgraduate studies in databases, web technologies, and European studies. His work focuses on digital transformation, innovation, entrepreneurship, and public sector modernization.
